#38 Bridge in Agios Minas


The bridge is below the Dilofo of Zagori. It's a small, stone, one-arched bridge that is situated near the namesake church, although it's unknown when it was built and by whom

It bridges Xiropotamo and we find it just below the intersection to Dilofo, towards Kipi.

Construction characteristics


  It's an one-arched bridge below Dilofo of Zagori. It spans Xiropotamo and we find it at an altitude of 772. m. The opening of its arch reaches 6,20 m. and its width 3,5 (2,90 + 0,60) m. The deck's length is 15,70 m., while its width 2,10 m.

Additional historical, cultural and touristic data


Dilofo is situated, amphitheatrically, at the foot of two hills. North of the village and in some distance extends the Mountain of Tymfi and east the forests of Central and Eastern Zagori. The village is built at an altitude of 880 m. and is about 35 km. away from Ioannina.

The traditional stone mansions, the quaint cobbled streets, the stone fountains and the churches create an idyllic landscape. In the center of the village stands out a large tree and the building of Anagnostopouleias School, founded in 1855 by Ioannis and Dimitrios Anagnostopoulos.

At the entrance of the village, stands out a four-storey mansion of 13.5 m., built with white chipped stone, and the Church of the Assumption (1857) with the carved iconostasis and the frescoes.
