#130 Bridge in Nionero

Near the road that connects Ioannina to Pogoniani under the newest bridge, at an altitude of 669 meters, is located the bridge Nionero. The bridge was built to bridge the today dry stream which flowed the river Drin. The one-arch bridge was built in 1895 at the expense of the Ottoman state. Today it succeeds, despite the damage suffered, to stand still proud to its original position.

Construction characteristics

The traditional bridge dates back to 1895.

It's a one-arch viaduct and its arch ends in a square opening.

In this simple architectural project stands out the elaborate construction of apsidolithon, in contrast, the rest of the structure which isn't possessed by the same editor.

The deck of the bridge does not follow the slope of the arch and newer guards are added which are made of cement.
