Very remarkable is the stone bridge located in Pigi (Peklari), just south of the village, near St Nicolaus and the old trail that led to Konitsa. That bridge was built in 1903 by the foreman Mitros Gkortsos from Pyrsogianni, was sponsored by G. Karagiannis from Peklari and was restored in 1992.

Additional historical, cultural and touristic data

  Pigi (Peklari)

Pigi is located at a distance of 7km from Konitsa in a northeast uphill direction at an altitude of 750m. It is amphitheatrically built over the Topolitsa stream and is surrounded by a dense pine forest. It is speculated that the village was built in the 13th or 14th century. Its original name was Empekler which later became Peklari. It got its current name during the '50s due to its many springs. It is divided into 4 districts, Pano Mahala, Kato Mahala, Mantzaious and Spanaious.

The few villagers are into logging and craftsmanship, an old tradition of that village. The church of St George is very special for its marvelous murals and ornate iconostasis that depicts patterns of exquisite beauty, painted by painters from Hionades. Also very interesting are the churches of St Panteleimon with its very old tree in Pano Mahala, of St Paraskevi and of St Nicolaus, the many springs in the village and the stone made school. The jewel of Pigi is its arched, stone bridge of Karagiannis with the icon next to it that was built in 1903 with money that were donated by George Karagiannis. The village feast is on 26 July.
